Recipe Ingredients

ingredients needed to make green bean casserole in the Instant Pot

Green Beans - I love using fresh green beans in this recipe. However, don't stress if you don't have fresh. You can use canned just as easily.

Cheddar Cheese - More cheese, please! You can never have too much cheese, in my opinion. I love the flavor of cheddar, but other options would be delicious, too.

Cream of Mushroom Soup - This helps to create that creamy texture and also adds a hearty flavor to it as well.

French Fried Onions - Adding these creates a crunch and an awesome texture for the dish. Plus, they're a bit salty and pair perfectly with the other flavors.

Step Three: Start the Instant Pot at high pressure for 2 minutes.

Step Four: Once the time has passed, put the beans and mixture into a casserole dish and add the french fried onions on the top.

Step Five: Shredd the cheese carefully with the cheese grater.

Step Six: Next, add 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the casserole dish.

Step Seven: Put the casserole dish in the Instant Pot on top of the trivet. Put on the air fryer lid and air fry the mixture at 390F for 12 minutes.

Change up the cheese - The easiest way to change the taste is to change up the cheese. Pepperjack, mozzarella, Colby - you name it.

Add fresh mushrooms - Saute up some mushrooms and then add them to the dish!

Helpful Tips

  • If you use fresh green beans, be sure to break off the ends and then break the green bean into two or three pieces.
  • I don't recommend using frozen green beans for this recipe as they release a lot of extra liquid during the cooking process.

How to Serve

You can serve this however you'd like! I like to serve myself a huge mound on my plate and dig in, but you can easily use it to pair with some other holiday entrees. Here are some of my favorites:
