Why This Recipe Works

These crispy green beans air fryer style are awesome because even people who don't typically like green beans can't resist them. They are flavorful and crunchy. What's not to love?

Plus, green beans are packed with vitamins C, K, and A in addition to folic acid and fiber, giving you a nutrition boost when you least expect it.

Ingredients

Green Beans: Fresh is best for this recipe. The breading won't adhere to frozen beans.

Flour: This coating of flour might seem unnecessary, but it actually helps lock moisture in so that the bean doesn't get dried out and the batter doesn't become soggy. It allows you to get a crispier cook on the outside.

Egg: The egg wash is necessary to help the panko layer stick to the bean.

Panko: If you don't have panko, you can use bread crumbs or even crushed-up crackers.

Parmesan Cheese: You can swap this out for any cheese you like so long as it's finely grated.

Garlic Powder: You can have some fun here, adding whatever herbs and spices you want. Try paprika, lemon zest, or ginger to experiment with different flavors.

How to Make Air Fryer Crispy Green Beans

Step One: Prepare your green beans by washing, drying, and cutting the ends off them. Set aside.

Step Two: Prepare your flour in a medium bowl.

Step Three: In another medium bowl, beat your eggs.

Step Four: Mix panko crumbs, cheese, garlic powder, and black pepper in a large bowl until combined.

Step Five: Dredge your green beans in the flour, ensuring they are evenly coated.

Step Six: Dip your beans, one by one, into the egg, then into the panko mixture until each is sufficiently and evenly coated.

Step Seven: Spray your basket with some non-stick cooking spray and evenly place your beans inside.

Step Eight: Cook for 10 minutes at 240F.

Step Nine: Serve with your favorite dipping sauces and enjoy!

Tips

  • When you are battering or coating anything, it's always a good idea to keep one hand to use when touching wet ingredients and one hand for dry. This helps avoid clumping in your dry ingredients, allowing for a more even coating.
  • Always ensure you spray your air fryer basket with some non-stick cooking spray before you make this recipe. The batter can stick to the basket quite quickly otherwise.
