Some of my all-time favorite Instant Pot recipes happen to be the simplest. You wouldn’t believe it, but you can make this delicious Instant Pot Apple Jam using only 2 ingredients: apples and honey!
This recipe is so easy to make and using the Instant Pot, you’ll have jam that’s ready in only 20 minutes. And it goes well with nearly anything! It’s so good, I’d actually just eat it plain with a spoon.

Why This Recipe Works
Apples and honey are a match made in heaven. Their flavors go together perfectly. The tartness of the apples is balanced by the sweetness of the honey. Plus, apples and honey are both in season around the same time of year. Honey is harvested in the late summer and early fall, just in time for apple picking.
Apples are much higher in natural pectin than most fruits like cherries and berries. For this reason, you don’t need to add additional pectin or another thickening agent. When the apples cook, the natural pectin in them gelatinizes when it’s heated, and you end up with a jelly consistency naturally.
Since there are only 2 ingredients in this recipe, let’s go a little more in depth…
Apples – for the most delicious tasting jam, I’d recommend using a few different varieties of apples. Reason being, different apples have different flavor profiles, so if you use a few different types with different attributes you’ll end up with a more rounded and balanced jam. Here are some of my favorites you can choose from:
- Pink lady – a great balance between sweet and tart
- Granny Smith – definitely try to include a couple of Granny Smith apples, as they contain the most pectin of the apple varieties. They are also tart, which balances well with the sweeter apples and the honey.
- Fuji – one of the sweetest varieties, for those who prefer a sweeter jam!
- Gala – crisp and mild tasting, they have a low acidity that balances well with a tart apple like a Granny Smith
Honey – I like to splurge on a high-quality local honey for this recipe, since there are only 2 ingredients, the honey flavor really shines through. Raw honey has more health benefits than commercial honey, since it is minimally filtered and processed. The processing of commercial honey greatly reduces the amount of nutrients and antioxidants present. That said, any type of honey will work in this Instant Pot Apple Jam recipe!
- This recipe calls for the mixture to be cooked until it reaches the “gelling point.” You should be able to see the mixture visibly thicken up. A good test is seeing how it coats the back of a spoon. The exact final consistency is up to you and your personal preferences.

Can I use sugar instead of honey?
Yes! If you want to use sugar instead of honey, use 875 g of sugar. You can also use a combination of honey and sugar if you prefer. In general, honey has stronger sweetening power than regular sugar, so use a bit more sugar than honey.
Can I cut this recipe in half?
Yes! Keep in mind, it may cook a little faster if you’re making a half batch. It also keeps for a while in the fridge—about a month or more—so you may want to reconsider making a full batch!
Instant Pot Apple Recipes

Instant Pot Apple Jam
- 1½ lb apples peeled and cut into halves
- 750 g honey
- Press "saute" and add apples and honey to the Instant Pot.
- Stir continuously until honey is liquefied.
- Boil until foamy bubbles are formed around apples.
- Close with the lid and cook on high pressure for 3 minutes.
- When cooking time is complete, wait for a natural pressure release (or for at least for 20 minutes).
- Open the lid, and press "saute".
- Cook until the mixture reaches the gelling point.
- Place in jars and refrigerate.
