Recipe Ingredients
All-purpose flour - This is the main type of flour that I use while baking. If you have another favorite, you can use that.
Baking powder - Gives the pancakes a boost of fluffiness!
White sugar - Added for sweetness.
Salt - Just a pinch.
Egg - Used as the binding agent to hold the pancake batter together.
Milk - Helps to thin out the batter so it's not so thick.
Butter - You can use salted or unsalted butter.
Maple syrup - Honey would work well also.
How to make Instant Pot Pancakes
Be sure to get all the ingredients together before starting this simple pancake recipe.
Step One: Grab a mixing bowl and add the flour, baking powder, and sugar.
Step Two: In a different bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, and butter. This mixture needs to be combined well.
Step Three: Combine the previously mixed flour mixture with the milk mixture until smooth.
Step Four: Press the saute button on the Instant Pot and add 1 teaspoon butter.
Step Five: Once melted, add the pancake mixture into the Instant Pot. Please note that for the example I made only 1 pancake in the middle, but you can make a few pancakes at once.
Step Six: Saute for 2-3 minutes until the surface of the pancakes have some bubbles and the edges are dry. Then flip them using spatula.
Step Seven: Saute for 1-2 more minutes until browned on the other side.
Step Eight: Remove pancake from the Instant Pot, add maple syrup and serve 🙂
You can also add your favorite toppings as well.
Repeat the process with the with the remaining batter.
Variations
Add ingredients - You can easily add chocolate chips, blueberries, or even sprinkles! Change up the ingredients every time.
Don't forget the toppings - The best part about making a giant stack of pancakes is that you can change up the toppings! You can top with whipped cream, peanut butter, honey, pancake syrup, or even a scoop of ice cream!
You can even make ice cream yourself using these Ice Cream Maker Recipes.
Make a giant pancake - Don't forget that you have space to make one big giant pancake in the bottom of the Instant Pot!
How to serve
Serving these pancakes is part of the fun! I like a piping hot cup of coffee with mine, but you can easily set out a pancake topping bar and have everyone enjoy them have they'd like them.

Recipe Notes
- I like to use aluminum-free baking powder because it tends to have fewer clumps.
- When the pancake batter starts to bubble in the Instant Pot, that's your cue to flip them to the other side.
- Make sure that you don't overcrowd the pancakes. If you add too many to the bottom of the Instant Pot, it gets really hard to flip them.
- For this recipe we are making the pancakes from scratch. If you wanna use pancake-mix, feel free do do so. You can also make this Sheet Pan Pancakes From Mix recipe instead.
Recipe FAQs
Yes, baking a large batch of pancakes and then freezing them is a great way to meal prep.
You can even store them in individual serving bags in the freezer so that you can pull out a few and thaw them when you want to eat them.
You can make them gluten free. Just use gluten free flour and any other gluten free ingredients and enjoy.
If you have gooey pancakes, they're not cooked all the way. You need to make sure that you allow enough cooking time so that you don't have raw pancake batter.
