Recipe Ingredients

Beef Roast - I am making this recipe with beef but if you want to try it with chicken then give it a try to chicken pot pie. The best beef cut for pot pie is Chuck Eye Roast. It gets so tender and just melts in your mouth after being slow-cooked. Freeze the roast before you cut it into thick small pieces.

Pie Dough - You can use the readymade pie dough available in the superstore. Athens or Mr. Smiths' brand dough is one of the best available in the market. But it's not a condition, use any of easily available. Or you can also prepare dough at home.

Veggies - I am using Carrots, Peas, Mushrooms, Onions, and Garlic cloves in this recipe because they make a deadly combination with beef pie! Use either frozen or fresh veggies, both will go perfect with it 🙂

Tomato Paste - It contributes to the gravy quantity adding in a soothing tomato flavor. I've added a simple fresh tomato puree to my recipe. But it is easily available at the stores too and doesn't make any difference in taste.

Red Wine - It takes your food to next level beyond 🙂  It adds in a bit of sweetness with the lovely winey flavor, balancing the savoriness of the broth.

Beef Broth - It's one of the key ingredients that contribute a lot to the taste of the recipe. So make sure you're using a good quality broth. Taste it first before adding it to the recipe.

Spices and Herbs - This recipe has salt, pepper, bay leaf, and thyme added to it to enrich the taste! You can add more spices like flakes, cayenne if you want beef pot pie to be spicier. And herbs like oregano and rosemary etc. I just want to keep it simple and this actually results in the succulent and flavorful dish!

Sauce - Soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce are the main reason behind the flavorous broth! They add in some kind of tangy and hot, a bit sweet, and a little spicy flavor! Oyster sauce also goes perfect with it if you want to add a little bit of it too.

All-Purpose Flour - I am using All-Purpose Flour in a small amount just to thicken the broth. Sift it first before using it. Or you can also add Corn starch instead of it.

Egg - Just use one egg to brush it up on the dough so it will turn its color to a pretty golden brown. Make sure the egg you are using is at room temperature.

How long it can be stored?

It will last for 3-5 days in the refrigerator and for a month or two in the freezer. Store it by keeping it in any heavy-duty freezer bag or by covering it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
