It is super easy, economical, preservative-free, and even healthier than store-bought!

Why This Recipe Works

Making a protein-rich yogurt at home which is budget-friendly at the same time is worth giving a try! And the best part is that it would only take 10 minutes of your day to make this delicious Yogurt 🙂

Store-bought yogurt contains so many artificial additives which became a barrier between you and the number of vitamins and proteins you expect from it.

This recipe contains very simple ingredients that are a basic part of the pantry.

Recipe Ingredients

Milk - I have used regular Cow Milk because it gives a good thickness to the Yogurt.

Plain Yogurt - Use any kind of your favorite store-bought yogurt. We would just need it in a small amount for thickening purposes and to give the milk a yogurt taste. Using high-fat yogurt would result in a good thick and rich yogurt.

How to make yogurt

Gather all the necessary ingredients first.

Now take an Instant Pot and pour 1 and ½ cups of milk into it.

Cover the lid. Press 'yogurt' and let the milk boil for 8 minutes.

Give it a natural steam vent.

Uncover the lid and add 4 ice cubes to it. Stir a bit with the help of a wooden spoon.

Pour the Milk out in a large bowl.

Add ¼ cup of plain store-bought Yogurt to the bowl.

Mix them properly and Tadaa! The homemade heart-warming Yogurt is ready but first refrigerate or some while it to let it set 🙂

Serve it with some strawberry slices or berries on top and enjoy!

And yes, I love to bring recipes that match your interests. So, if you are a big fan of strawberries, the strawberry cobbler recipe will make you happy too.

How to Serve Yogurt

The ways to serve yogurt are endless! I love whipping up yogurt in my smoothies so it gets richer in flavors and taste.

For example, it works great with this Keto Green Smoothie.

Having granola with yogurt in breakfast is another healthier way to give a start to your day. You can even make granola in the Instant Pot.

For a simple and healthy snack kind of serving, just add blueberries on top as you can see in the image above.

You can also add some chopped nuts and fruit slices to the yogurt.

This homemade yogurt can also be used as a substitute for applesauce and key ingredient in many recipes.

FAQs

For how long it can be stored?

This yogurt can last up to one and a half weeks if you are storing it in an airtight container in a freezer at a good temperature (below 40F). Keeping it at room temperature for more than 2 hours would rot the yogurt.

What should I do to make my yogurt thicker and creamier?

This recipe would result in a good creamy yogurt if you use ingredients as described above but if you want it to be thicker and creamier then boil the milk for a bit long time to thicken it and then add yogurt to it.

Can I double the recipe?

Yes. Use 3 cups of milk, 8 ice cubes and ½ cup of plain yogurt.

Cooking time stays the same (8 minutes and natural release).
