Variations

The great thing about cooking kale is that it takes on the flavors of literally anything that you season it with. This means that you can use Italian seasoning, Everything Bagel seasoning, or even just a little bit of chili powder as well.

The best way to change up kale chips is to change up how you season. Have fun with the flavors and make them taste new and unique each time.

Add bacon - Yes, bacon! Bacon will add fat content to it but also loads of flavor!

How to serve

The great thing about making this easy kale recipe is that you can serve it with anything that you want. (or enjoy it on its own!)

Recipe Notes

  • You do need to rinse the kale before cooking. To dry off the water, pat it dry between two clean paper towels or use a salad spinner to get off as much of the excess water as possible. The kale needs to be dry to crisp up properly in the Instant Pot.
  • There is no need to trim off the stems of the kale unless you want to.

Recipe FAQs

What are good toppings for kale chips?

Kale toppings are fun to choose from! Some of the best toppings for kale chips are black pepper and salt, red pepper flakes, and parmesan cheese.

Why are my kale chips not crispy?

If the kale chips are crispy, you might not have dried them off enough after cleaning them.

Be sure to carefully dry them so that they don't become soggy during the cooking process.

How do I reheat leftover kale chips?

While it is possible to reheat kale chips, they really are best eaten fresh. If you happen to have too many, add them to the top of a salad in place of croutons to gobble them up!

You can store them in a plastic bag for later, but it's hard to keep that same crunch factor when they're not hot and fresh.
