Beef Round Steaks -  Remove the fats before cutting them into slices.

Soy Sauce  - You can use low sodium soy sauce.

Worcestershire Sauce - Vinegar and soy sauce can be used as an option.

Liquid Smoke - Adds an extra smoky flavor.

Brown Sugar - Date sugar or coconut sugar are good options, too.

Meat Tenderizer - Needed to make the meat not as chewy.

Garlic Powder - Don't confuse it with garlic salt.

Onion Powder - Perfect seasoning that stands on its own.

Paprika - Smoked paprika would work well, also.

How to make Instant Pot Beef Jerky

Don't do anything until you have all the ingredients in your hand! You don't want to stop mid-way through the recipe.

Variations

Change up the seasonings - Some people love to eat really spicy beef jerky, so you can always add heat to your marinate. Add in chili powder, red pepper flakes, or hot sauce.

Change up the meat - You can use a different kind of meat and make deer jerky or venison jerky instead.

Recipe Notes

  • Don't rush the process to dehydrating. It's important to let it dehydrate for the entire time.
  • Once the beef is dehydrated, you can store it in a bag or tin and leave it at room temperature.

How to Serve

It's literally a grab-and-go snack! If you want to pair it with something, you can try to dip it into hot sauce or pair up with a simple side salad to balance out the flavors.

Recipe FAQs

Does beef jerky go bad?

Yes, beef jerky can go bad. Make sure to store it in an airtight container to keep it as fresh as possible for as long as possible. If you notice mold or anything weird on it, don't eat it.

Can you freeze beef jerky?

You can freeze beef jerky! In fact, it's a great idea! If you want to save it for later, just put it into a freezer-safe bag and store it in the freezer.

Is there a way to soften beef jerky?

Once jerky is dehydrated, there isn't really a lot to do to soften it. Tearing it into smaller pieces when you eat it is a great way to help the jerky not seem so tough.
