Recipe Ingredients

Lima Beans-  Due to their Buttery Texture these are also commonly known as Butter Seeds. If you are unable to find Lima beans try searching for Butter Beans. Baby Lima Beans would be great for this recipe. Rinse the beans before adding.

Bay Leaves- Used as an herb, Laurel tree's fragrant leaf. You can add it either fresh or dried, or you can also use its powder.

Chicken Broth- Feel free to replace the chicken broth with vegetable stock for vegan lima beans.

How to make

Gather necessary ingredients.

Add 1 lb of Lima Beans into the pot.

Add chopped onion and garlic into the pot.

Add half a teaspoon of salt.

Add a teaspoon of black pepper.

Add 3 cups of chicken broth into the pot.

Pour 4 cups of water into the pot.

Add bay leaves to the pot.

Now, close the lid and pressure cook at high for 20 minutes.

Do a natural release.

Dish out the beans and enjoy!

How to Serve 

Serve the beans as the main dish with your own favorite rice. you can also serve it with some crusty loaves of bread.

But I would suggest you serve the beans with shrimp fried rice, Spanish rice or you can have it as it is!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cup garlic chopped
  • ½ cup Onion chopped
  • ½ Cup Bacon rinsed
  • 1 tbsp Thyme
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin powder
  • ½ cup Beans Boiled
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 4 cups Water
  • 3 Bay leaves
  • 2 Corainder leaves

Instructions

  • Place all the ingredients in the Instant Pot.
  • Close the lid and cook on high pressure for 20 minutes.

Notes

  • You can add salt even after charro beans are cooked, If you add before cooking beans would be tougher.
