Homemade jams are always better than the store-bought ones.

You can use it to make fig rolls or eat together with cheese for a gourmet appetizer.

If you are feeling fancy, try it on toast, with cheese and foie gras.

You can also try it over air fryer frozen waffles or crepini egg wrap.

Do I have to use chia seeds?

No. And then you can a recipe with only 3 ingredients 🙂

But in my opinion chia seeds add a great taste and texture to this jam.

Which figs to use?

For this recipe, feel free to use all varieties of figs (green, purple, red ...). .

How to choose the figs?

Choose only completely ripe figs since they are better for jam (and also cheaper!).

  1. Hi. I'm so intrigued by this recipe! I am new to the Instant Pot, but I thought you couldn't cook anything without at least 1\2 to a full cup of water. You didn't get a burn notice with just the lemon juice?

    1. Did you get a response on this? I would also love to use this quicker method of canning as I’ve done many fig preserves the old way. Assuming these would need 5-10 min bath to seal but not sure ‍♀️

    2. I do, I first process them in the instant pot, and then I follow water bath canning procedures with sterile jars. I want to be able to keep them longer and feel safe about the processing.

  2. I made this jam and it’s great! But is it ok to put it straight into the jar? Do you have to prepare the jar in any special way?
I have never made jam before

    1. Make sure to pop the jam into hot sterile jars after cooking. Because it helps to preserve the jam in a safe way.

    1. Canning is the absolute healthiest method of food preservation that keeps it free from harmful additives and preservatives.

    1. You can freeze jam in zip lock freezer bags, after pressing out any extra air before sealing the bag. It can be kept in the freezer up to a year.

        1. Plastic containers are not suggested for the preservation of the jam. Make sure to use hot sterile jars after cooking. Because it helps to preserve the jam in a safe way.
