What is Mexican Ponche?
Instant Pot Christmas Tradicional Mexican Ponche, a traditionally prepared beverage loved hot during the Christmas Holidays.
Ponche Navideño Mexicano is made with water, fresh and dried fruits like Tamarind, Prunes, Hibiscus flower tea, Tejocote, cinnamon sticks, Raisins, and Piloncillo, etc.
Can I skip the Piloncillo cone?
Yes. No Piloncillo cones? No problem. Utilize brown sugar instead.
Can I skip the Teejocotes?
Yes. You shouldn't but you can! Utilize an extra apple instead.
What else can I add?
Play around with the recipe ingredients and add a different variety of fresh and dry fruits according to your region.
Feel free to skip any fruit that can't be available to you.
Can I make it ahead of time?
Of course, in fact, it is better to give thee drink time and let the flavors mix well.
You can prepare this Christmas Ponche ahead of time and refrigerate it for a day or two.
Don't forget to warm it up before serving.
How to make
Gather the necessary ingredients.
Pour a cup of water into the pot and add a piloncillo cone and cinnamon stick.
Saute at high for 15 minutes.
Now add in all the other ingredients.
Set the pot to high pressure for 30 minutes.
Do a Quick Release.
Dish out and enjoy. It works great with some homemade Churros 🙂

Ingredients
- 1 guava sliced
- 1 prune sliced
- 1 apple sliced
- 1 pear sliced
- 1 tamarind
- 1 cup water
- 1 piloncillo cone (Brown sugar cone)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 cup tejocote
- 1 tablespoon raisins
- 1 cup hibiscus flower tea
Instructions
- Pour a cup of water into the Instant Pot and add a piloncillo cone and cinnamon stick.
- Saute at high for 15 minutes.
- Press "cancel" and add the other ingredients.
- Close the lid and cook on high pressure for 30 minutes.
- When cooking time is complete, do a quick pressure release.
- Serve warm and enjoy 🙂
