We're cooking them together in the Instant Pot and serving them in a bun. It's a great option for party food or a quick dinner when you're in a hurry.

Why This Recipe Works

First up, it's all about speed and convenience. Using an Instant Pot, you can whip up a meal that tastes like it simmered all day—in just minutes. Plus, hot dogs and sauerkraut are a match made in heaven; the tangy crunch of sauerkraut pairs perfectly with the juicy, savory hot dogs. This dish is ideal for those times when you need a satisfying meal without the hassle of lengthy prep and cooking times.

Another great point? It's incredibly versatile. Whether you're feeding a crowd or just looking for an easy meal to throw together after a busy day, this recipe covers all bases. It's also fantastic for adapting to different tastes—swap out the hot dogs for sausages or adjust the amount of sauerkraut to suit your liking.

Ingredients

  • Hot dogs: The star of the show. Choose your favorite brand, or for a healthier twist, opt for turkey or chicken hot dogs.
  • Sauerkraut: Adds a punch of flavor and crunch. If you're not a fan, try substituting with coleslaw or a mild kimchi.
  • Water: Just a cup to help steam everything to perfection.

Tips

  1. For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of caraway seeds to the sauerkraut before cooking.
  2. Customize your hot dogs with various toppings like mustard, onions, or relish after cooking.
  3. Keep leftovers in the fridge and reheat for a quick snack or meal.
  4. If using a different type of sausage, adjust cooking times accordingly.

How to Serve

This dish is a breeze to serve. It's perfect straight from the pot, perhaps with a side of mustard and some freshly baked bread. But there are more ways to enjoy it. Why not try loading the hot dogs and sauerkraut onto a crusty roll for a delicious sandwich? Or, for a lighter option, serve them over a bed of mixed greens with a vinaigrette dressing.

Another idea is to turn it into a festive platter. Slice the hot dogs, mix the sauerkraut with some diced apples for sweetness, and serve with toothpicks as a fun appetizer. It’s a great way to turn a simple meal into a party dish!
