 Ingredients

Spinach - This leafy green is packed full of nutrients and adds a delicious fresh taste to the pizza. If you can't find fresh spinach, frozen can be used as a substitute, just make sure to thaw and drain it well.

Pizza Dough - You can use homemade dough or store-bought pizza dough for convenience. Gluten-free dough can be used for those with dietary restrictions.

Mozzarella Cheese - This cheese melts wonderfully and gives your pizza that perfect cheesy pull. You can substitute with a blend of cheeses like provolone and cheddar for a different flavor profile.

Garlic - Freshly minced garlic adds a bold flavor that complements the spinach. Garlic powder can be used in a pinch.

Olive Oil - Used for sautéing the spinach and garlic as well as brushing the pizza crust for extra crispness. Canola or vegetable oil can be used as an alternative, but olive oil adds a wonderful flavor that pairs well with the other ingredients.

Tips

  • Pre-bake your pizza crust for a few minutes before adding toppings to prevent it from getting soggy.
  • Always drain your spinach well after washing or defrosting to avoid extra moisture on the pizza.
  • Use fresh mozzarella for the best melting and flavor, but shredded can be used if you're in a hurry.
  • If you prefer a spicy kick, add some crushed red pepper flakes to your spinach and garlic sauté.
  • A pizza stone can help to achieve a nice, crisp bottom on your pizza, but a regular baking sheet works just fine.

How to Serve

Spinach pizza is a versatile dish that can be served in a variety of ways to fit different occasions. It is light and healthy, making it great for a casual lunch, dinner, or a snack. The pizza pairs well with a fresh salad, soup, or pasta dish, and a glass of your favorite wine or beer for a complete meal.

  • Dinner Party - Cut the pizza into small, appetizer-sized bites and serve as a starter at your next dinner party.
  • Brunch - Top with a freshly poached egg for a delicious and unique brunch offering.
  • Kids' Meal - Make mini spinach pizzas using smaller rounds of dough to create a fun, kid-friendly meal.
