Pisa, Italy, is celebrated globally for its iconic Leaning Tower, but its lesser-known treasures include a rich history tracing back to Roman times, captivating architecture, and a lively cultural scene. Originating as a port town in the 5th century BCE, Pisa has earned UNESCO World Heritage status.

When I visited several years ago, the first thing that caught my attention wasn't the tower but the crazy antics of people trying to get photos of themselves doing things like "holding the tower up." The lawn is surrounded by people in all sorts of contorted poses. Sitting there watching people make fools of themselves makes for an entertaining afternoon. A recent discussion on a popular internet forum discussed what the city offers besides the tower. While many people felt the city had nothing else that really stood out, here are twelve things you can do besides contortions for social media.
