10 Weirdest Chip Flavors

Chips are a go-to snack for many, but some flavors really push the boundaries. From the weird to the wild, these chip flavors are not your average snack. They're out there challenging your taste buds, making you question how far your love for chips can go. Ready to see which flavors make the list?

1. Dill Pickle

Dill Pickles are one of those things people love or hate, and it is the same for the chip counterparts. Of course, we're only talking about pickle flavoring in a crispy potato. As one contributor put it, "Pickle chips are technically dill. I would put dollars on the presumption that no cucumbers were harmed in the creation of pickle chips."

2. BBQ

I'm with the people who voted for this one. I love BBQ sauce, but I need help figuring out what BBQ chips are meant to resemble. Though, there are exceptions, as this one person says, "Have you tried Zapp's Mesquite BBQ? I'm not usually one for BBQ chips, but those things slap."

3. Salt and Vinegar

By far, salt and vinegar received the most hate on the forum. One member says, "I just don't get it. It's too much vinegar!" This flavor is meant to resemble something you'd get from an English fish and chip shop, where fries are often served with vinegar.

4. Mustard Flavored Doritos

Would you like some mustard on your corn chips? No? Apparently, many others aren't fans, either. "The Mustard ones are terrible. The flavor just gets worse and worse the more you chew," says one individual.

5. Seafood Flavor

One contributor says, "Any seafood flavor — squid, shrimp, etc. It's all that flavor you buy fresh fish to avoid." We tend to like seafood with various potato dishes like mash or fries, but a shrimp-flavored chip doesn't appeal to people.

6. Plain Potato

The plain salted chip is the original and the best, especially if you get a good crinkle cut or kettle chip, but some don't agree. One says, "I need some kinda flavor besides just salted." Another says, "I just can't get excited about chips if their entire flavor profile is salt and oil."

7. Ranch Doritos

Americans are big fans of ranch dressing, and what's not to love? It has garlic, spices, and mustard in a mayonnaise base. Is it good on corn chips, though? While many forum members agreed that this wasn't a good flavor combination, others suggested that mentioning this in the 'worst flavor' list was "blasphemy."

8. Flaming Hot

One forum member explains, "Flaming Hot anything. They don't taste good at all." Another respondent agrees, "Can't even stand the smell." Cheetos says the flavor combines chili peppers, garlic, ginger, and citrus. As one person says, "Any flavor that is too hot is impossible to enjoy if your tongue and mouth are numb."

9. Ketchup

This flavor often popped up on the forum, but no one indicated why they weren't fans. This flavor is predominantly featured in Canadian brands. Still, Doritos has a ketchup flavor available in the U.S. if you're curious, you can order ketchup-flavored Pringles online.

10. Cucumber

I'm not sure who thought putting cucumber and potato chips together was a good idea. Perhaps it's for those people who like cucumber sandwiches. A forum member who tried them says, "They tasted like a cucumber, but it was pretty artificial tasting and so gross."
