Restaurants are one of the last places people want to have bad experiences. We expect where we eat to be clean, well organized, have good customer service, and the like because these things combine to create a wholesome eating experience. But, sadly, this is hardly the case. In fact, we sometimes mentally prepare ourselves to experience one setback or another when visiting a restaurant, especially one we've never eaten at before. Still, some bad experiences stand out from the usual restaurant issues we know, and they become hard to forget...

1. Too Late
On the platform, a user talked about their experience when they went out on a date. They and their partner ordered food at the same time, but their partner got served first, and theirs came 35 minutes later. They didn't eat together, but they watched each other eat, which wasn't the way they imagined the meal would go down. Some people consider it bad eating etiquette to start eating before others' food arrives. But even they might not uphold the rule for 35 minutes.
2. Pin in Burger
Someone complained that they once found a pin in their burger. It wasn't a sewing needle, but a small, slender, sharp thing that had no business being in someone's food. Other commenters responded that it could have been a metal bristle from a grill brush.
3. First Day of Work
Another user shared their experience working with a restaurant. Within 5 minutes of starting, they were already questioning the restaurant's sanitary disposition, unregulated temperatures, improper disposal methods, and general disregard for cleanliness. They managed to convince themselves to keep working because they needed the money, but when the restaurant served customers fries that had a brown film over them, the user quit and called the health inspector.
4. Animal Liberation
In a funny experience, a customer witnessed a baboon jump through the window, land on a table next to the customer's, and punch a German in the face before stealing his toast. Apparently, the German deserved it because he had been waving his toast at the baboon and taunting it while it sat in a tree outside. Someone commented, "If you told me that I'd get to see an animal slap a jerk, I'd be there every night."
5. Poor Customer Service
A user said he just left a restaurant. He had complained that the soup he ordered as a starter was watery and tasteless, but rather than apologize, the chef came out and started shouting at him. So he got up and left.
6. Wage Theft
One member talked about a really good Mexican restaurant he and his work friends visited every Friday. The food was good, and the staff was fast and friendly. Then the news broke that they were bringing people in from Mexico to work, misreporting their earnings, holding their passports, and threatening to send them back if they complained. The member said they never set foot in the restaurant again.
7. Bossy
A man complained that he went to an Italian restaurant in Texas with his wife to eat. It was mid-summer, so it was 100-110 degrees out. His wife had a Gatorade she brought into the restaurant rather than leave in the heat of the car. She never once opened the drink or brought it in, intending to skimp on buying a drink. But, in the middle of having their meal, the hostess or owner came to their table, took the drink, and said, "We don't want the rest of our patrons to see this. It is bad for our setting." And just like that, she threw it away. They left the restaurant and never returned.
8. Nonconformists
The restaurant this user went to refused to follow pandemic rules. The servers all smirked about having fake exemption badges to wear masks. Their special board was also replaced with anti-vax encouragements. Though the restaurant was one of the user's favorites, they left and never returned.
9. Insensitive
In one comment, a member talked about how they were treated at a restaurant, as if their complaints were insignificant. The server kept rolling his eyes each time the user asked if something was or could be made gluten-free. The order came with a piece of bread that the server said was gluten-free. It wasn't. Luckily, as the user said, they are not celiac; they are just sensitive to gluten. They eventually got their money back and would most likely not be visiting the restaurant anytime in the future.
10. Disgusting Cook
Another commenter said they were at a Vietnamese place, and the cook was eating a corn cob while making the commenter's order. She was holding the corn cob in one hand and chewing on it while throwing the food in the wok with the other. The commenter just canceled the order and pointed to the disgusting cook when asked why. They also added that the restaurant used to be great until the owner recently sold it off.
