Vacations have a magical way of transforming our daily routines and habits. From the mundane to the extraordinary, people often find themselves adopting behaviors during breaks that seem impossible to replicate in their day-to-day lives, but people sure do give them a try. Maybe some of these things are just best left for the vacation versions of ourselves.

1. Walking 10+ Miles a Day

One user passionately shares, “We do 20K steps a day when we are in Paris. At home, I put 12 hours into my couch.” Another shares that they hate walking so much, and it even causes their feet to hurt badly afterward, yet on holiday, they can easily walk 12 hours without feeling any pain.

2. Taking Public Transport

At home, one has the comfort of driving around in a car. Users share that coming from an area highly dependent on cars; they forget it’s good to use public transport when on vacation religiously.

Marie Kondo would be pleased to see this user on vacation. They share that while they’re usually quite messy, they’re the opposite when away from home. “I actually hang all of my clothes and use the dressers. And put them back after wearing them.” The clothing-pile couch back home is in shock.

For one member, who is an early riser, vacations are the time to sleep till late. “It’s heaven,” they say. On the contrary, many other users share that they wake up early when, on regular days, they go to sleep quite late.

With how fast-paced our lives have become, unfortunately, many don’t even get the time to consume a proper breakfast. “Usually, it’s just coffee for me in the morning, but on vacation, it’s all the croissants and eggs I can shove in my face.”

The financial constraints that govern daily life often take a back seat during vacations. Users admit to splurging on dining out and experiences without the usual hesitation. “Generally at home, I’m money-conscious, limit dining out, and am more frugal,” confesses one.
