Enjoy a unique twist on the classic cheesesteak with this Salmon Cheesesteak recipe, featuring thinly sliced salmon, melted provolone, and crispy vegetables.
Optional: 1 teaspoon garlic powdermayonnaise, or mustard for extra flavor
Instructions
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the sliced bell peppers and onions, seasoning with salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder. Cook until they are softened and slightly caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and place the thinly sliced salmon. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until fully cooked through but still tender.
Reduce the heat to low. Return the cooked vegetables to the pan with the salmon. Top the salmon and vegetables with slices of provolone cheese. Cover the pan for a minute or until the cheese has melted.
Lightly toast the hoagie rolls if desired, then open them up and divide the salmon, vegetable, and cheese mixture among the rolls.
Serve immediately with your choice of side.
Notes
Pat the salmon dry before cooking to ensure it gets a nice sear.
• Thinly slice the bell peppers and onions for even cooking.
• Cook vegetables until just softened to retain some crunch.
• Add cheese on top of the hot salmon in the pan to melt it slightly before assembling.
• If you prefer a crispy roll, toast it lightly before assembling your cheesesteak.
