Ingredients
4
cups
oat milk
2
tablespoons
yogurt starter culture
1
tablespoon
sugar
1
teaspoon
agar agar powder
1
teaspoon
vanilla extract
Instructions
In a saucepan, mix oat milk, sugar, and agar agar powder.
Heat the mixture on low heat until it reaches about 110°F. Stir occasionally.
Turn off the heat and add vanilla extract.
Let the mixture cool a bit, then add the yogurt starter culture. Mix well.
Pour the mixture into a clean, sterile jar.
Cover the jar with a cloth and rubber band or lid.
Keep the jar in a warm place for 6 to 8 hours, or until it sets.
After it sets, move it to the fridge for a few hours to chill before eating.
Notes
Use a clean and sterile jar for storing the yogurt to avoid bad bacteria.
Keep your yogurt in a warm place while it's setting, like an oven with the light on.
Always mix the ingredients well before heating to get a smooth texture.
If you're new to making yogurt, use a thermometer to make sure the oat milk reaches about 110°F before adding the culture.
You can add more sugar for taste, but remember the good bacteria need some sugar to feed on, so don't skip it.
