Ingredients
4 to 6
chicken breasts or thighs
1
cup
BBQ sauce
1
large onion
thinly sliced
3 to 4
garlic cloves
minced
½
cup
chicken broth
Instructions
Place the chicken at the bottom of the slow cooker.
Layer the sliced onions and minced garlic over the chicken.
Pour the BBQ sauce and chicken broth over the ingredients in the slow cooker.
Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until the chicken is tender and easily shreds.
Once cooked, shred the chicken using two forks inside the slow cooker. Mix well to ensure the chicken is coated with the sauce.
Serve as desired.
Notes
Using boneless chicken will make the shredding process easier.
To enhance flavor, sear chicken briefly in a pan before placing in the slow cooker.
For a spicier kick, add a touch of chili powder or hot sauce.
You can add a bit of liquid smoke for a smoky flavor.
After cooking, drain excess liquid for thicker sauce consistency.
