Ingredients
1
pound
beef
cut into cubes
1
cup
mushrooms
sliced
1
ready-made pie crust
1
large onion
chopped
1
cup
beef broth
Salt
pepper, and optional spices (like thyme or rosemary) to taste
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a skillet, sear the beef cubes until brown. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, sauté the onions and mushrooms until soft.
Add the beef back in, then pour in the beef broth. Add salt, pepper, and any optional spices.
Let it simmer for 10 minutes, or until it thickens a bit.
Roll out your pie crust into a pie dish.
Pour the beef and mushroom mixture into the crust.
Cover with another layer of crust, and seal the edges.
Make a few small slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
Notes
Use cold butter in the crust for flakiness.
Sear the beef before adding it to the pie for a deeper flavor.
Slice mushrooms thinly for better texture.
For a thicker sauce, you can add a tablespoon of flour to the beef mixture.
Let the pie cool for a bit before slicing; it helps the filling set.
