Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then grill on medium heat for 6-7 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Slice the whole wheat buns in half and lightly toast them.
Spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.
Place a few lettuce leaves on the mayonnaise, then add a slice of tomato.
Slice the grilled chicken and place it on top of the tomato. You can add any additional toppings at this point.
Top with the other half of the bun and serve.
Notes
Always use fresh chicken for the best taste. It should be firm to the touch and not have a strong smell.
Don't overcook the chicken breasts, as they can become dry and tough. A meat thermometer is a handy tool to check if the chicken is done.
Let your cooked chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing. This will keep it juicy.
Customize your burger with your favorite toppings such as pickles, onions, or bacon.
You can prepare the chicken and other ingredients ahead of time and assemble the burgers just before serving.
