Add flour, sugar, and salt to a bowl. Stir to combine and set aside.
In another bowl, add vanilla extract, apple sauce, and butter. Stir to incorporate. Then mix your egg in until incorporated.
Mix the wet ingredients into your dry ingredients until combined.
Fold in apple and chocolate chips.
Spray silicon muffin cups with cooking spray and fill ¾ full with batter.
Place them directly in the air fryer basket and cook for 10 minutes at 350F.

Add ½ cup of all-purpose flour, ¼ cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt to a bowl and mix to combine. Stir in 3 tablespoons of melted butter and mix until it becomes a crumble, then sprinkle it atop your muffins before air frying them.
Preheating your air fryer for a few minutes before placing the muffins inside the basket ensures a more consistent and reliable baking temperature.
Test the muffins for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center. The muffins are ready if it comes out clean or with a few dry crumbs.
