cans
15 oz each beans, drained and rinsed
1
cup
tomato sauce
½
cup
brown sugar
¼
cup
mustard
1
onion
diced
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine beans, tomato sauce, brown sugar, mustard, and onion.
Pour the mixture into a baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.
Bake for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until bubbly and slightly thickened.
Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Adjust the sweetness and spiciness to your liking by adding more or less sugar and mustard.
For a vegetarian option, omit any meat products and use vegetable oil instead.
If using dried beans, soak overnight and cook until tender before using.
Bake the beans covered to help retain moisture and prevent them from drying out.
Allow the beans to cool slightly before serving to help the flavors meld together.
