Clean, peel, and cube the potatoes. Add them to the Instant Pot.
Add the chicken broth, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Stir the ingredients well.
Place on the lid and cook for 10 minutes at high pressure.
Once the cooking time is complete, wait 10 more minutes for a natural pressure release.
After 10 minutes have passed, do a quick pressure release.
Add the butter to the Instant Pot and mash the potatoes well using a potato masher.

Notes
Using a potato masher is the easiest way to mash cooked potatoes but if you don't have one, don't worry. You should be able to easily mash the potatoes using a fork as well.
Peeling the potatoes is optional for this recipe. Just keep in mind that if you're wanting creamy and silky smooth potatoes, you won't get that by leaving the potato skins on.
