Instant Pot vs Gourmia

While some may be tempted to proclaim the Instant Pot brand as the number one pressure cooker producer, there are other brands that challenge its authority. One of these is Gourmia, a brand with a diverse offer of kitchen appliances and several interesting pressure cookers.

As such, in this article, I am going to run an Instant Pot vs Gourmia comparison that includes reviews of some of their best products with main features, pros, and cons.

From Instant Pot, I chose to review the DUO 60, which is their best Instant Pot model in my opinion, and from Gourmia, I reviewed the GPC625. Both pots have a capacity of 6qt, come with an inner pot, and their price tag is at the same level, so it’s important to understand why they are different and how this can benefit you.

Also, following the usual comparison structure, in the end, I will draw conclusions on who should buy which product.

This pressure cooker combines great materials with the latest technology to deliver amazing results in 70% less time than a standard stove-top. As such, the pot features two stainless steel containers that fit into each other in order to keep the entire device easy to clean and use.

Moreover, the multicooker is embedded with a third-generation microprocessor that monitors the entire cooking process and adjusts settings as needed. Users also have access to a user-friendly control panel with one-touch buttons that lets you chose from 14 pre-set smart cooking programs. There are also buttons that allow users to customize settings like temperature, time, or pressure.

Gourmia GPC625 Review

This model is available in the 6qt size, which is enough for most mid-sized families and comes with an inner removable non-stick liner and a stainless-steel exterior. Furthermore, the lid is detachable (which doesn’t happen with Instant Pot cookers) and it is designed with a patented 12-level safety lock system to avoid any mishaps.

Just like Instant Pot pressure cookers, the Gourmia ones are designed to cook foods up to 70% faster than standard stove-tops and lock the nutrients and flavors in. As such, you can slow cook, saute, sterilize, pressure cook, steam, or cook desert. There’s even a function to keep the food warm until you’re ready to eat it!

Users have the possibility to choose from 6 cooking modes from meats and poultry to soups and stews, at the press of a button! The pre-set modes are easily available through the frontal control panel where you can find one-touch buttons for each selection and a few extra ones to customize the 13 available settings.

The Gourmia pot is equipped with a precision thermostat that automatically regulates the temperature and pressure, in order to deliver the best possible results in terms of texture, taste, and aspect. There’s also a Delay Timer function that lets you decide when the cooking cycle should start, so you can come home to a steaming pot of hot, delicious food.

Features

  • 10 custom-engineered safety mechanisms
  • A versatile device that can replace a few appliances in your kitchen from rice makers to steamers
  • A variety of pre-set cook modes (such as slow cook, meat, soup, beans, poultry, sterilize, and more) that take the effort of cooking away
  • It cooks up to 70% faster and keeps more nutrients and flavor in the meals
  • The lid is equipped with a 12-level safety lock system that keeps any accidents away from your kitchen

Which One Should I Buy?

Now that we’ve reviewed both brands and their best products, it’s time to decide which pressure cooker to purchase.

Here are my thoughts:

Choose Instant Pot if…

  • You want a multicooker with a yogurt-making function
  • You need a smaller pressure cooker with the same features
  • You want a product that’s been tried by many other users
  • You want a multicooker with embedded with the latest technologies

Choose Gourmia if…

  • You like to choose from a wider variety of sizes
  • The extra safety mechanism on the lid is important to you
  • You like that it comes with a book of pressure cooking recipes

Overall, the two pressure cookers have a lot in common, but if you want a product that’s well-built and designed for the future, I would recommend the Instant Pot one. While the Gourmia pot does have a thermostat that monitors cooking, the IP DUO comes with an embedded microprocessor that supervises the entire process.

Still, considering that the price tag is in the same range for both products, the choice you make is going to be highly subjective.

    1. From what I can see Marie, both of these pots have Sauté mode as well, which is the browning mode you're talking about 🙂

  1. I'd like to read what the safety features of the Gourmia post are. I'm sure they have some too! Story seems bias and out dated.

  2. Gourmet does have several versions that make yogurt the 850 won’t but the 855 will all the lcd panel ones will make yogurt
