Which spices to use?
I like the natural taste, so I'm using only paprika, salt and pepper.
But feel free to change the suggesting spices and use whatever spices and seasoning you like the most!

What do you put on top of french fries?
You have so many options: Ketchup, mayonnaise, gravy, Tabasco sauce, four-cheese sauce, barbecue sauce etc.
How many potatoes can I make at once?
I don't recommend making more than 2 potatoes at once. If you need more, cook the fries in batches.
How can I keep french fries crispy after cooking?
If you are making many a few batches in advance, you can keep fried potatoes from getting soggy by placing them on a tray in a warm oven. That way they will remain crispy while serving.
Can I use sweet potatoes?
Yes you can. Check out this Instant Pot Sweet Potato fries for more info.
Do sweet potatoes and potatoes cook the same?
Russet potatoes (regular potatoes) need to be cooked a little longer than sweet potatoes. So for this recipe:
Potatoes: 10 minutes on each side.
Sweet potatoes: 9 minutes on each side.
Please note - In this recipe, I'm using CrispLid. It's an accessory that fits on top of your pressure cooker and turn it into an air-fryer.
Can I make the french fries using Instant Pot Duo Crisp?
Yes you can! Same ingredients and same instructions.
Can I make the french fries using instant Pot Air Fryer Lid?
Yes you can! Same ingredients and same instructions.
Can I make this recipe without Air Fryer Lid, CrispLid or any other air fryer appliance?
Yes you can. Just use this recipe - Instant Pot French Fries Without CrispLid.
Can I make this recipe in the oven?
Yes you can make these french fries in the oven: Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and put it all in the oven in a single layer with a little olive oil. Set to 375°F and bake for 25 minutes.
Do I need to turn on my Instant Pot for this recipe?
If you are using CrispLid or Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid - The Instant Pot should stay unplugged.
If you are using Instant Pot Duo Crisp - you need to plug in and turn on the Instant Pot.
Can I cut the potatoes into different size?
Yes you can. Feel free to use other sizes and shapes than the classic ¼-inch strips.
Just remember that cooking time may change.
You can even keep the potatoes as is, and make Instant Pot Baked Potatoes.

Can I use frozen French fries in the pot?
I only have the normal instant pot, can I buy the air pot lid for ‘‘tis one ??
Yes you can as long as your Instant Pot is 6-quart.
Thanks for a great recipe. Came out great. I'm a first time user n I love it.
Thanks! Hope you will keep making great recipes using your Instant Pot :]
i had to plug my instant pot in with the duo crisp lid
Yes, Instant Pot duo crisp is one unit so it needs to be plugged.
The unplugged is for people that using the separate unit like Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid or Mealthy Crisplid.
Add my duo crisp Insta pot for sometime, busy with senior friends during this pandemic, just now getting to use it kind a lost my motivation but I’d like to do something different. Since I live by myself I am a little bit nervous To use it but I am dying for sweet potatoes fries. Arkansas sweet potatoes are the greatest ever. Trying to follow your recipe hope I’m doing it right maybe no explosions ha ha Ha. Wish me well
Can you use frozen fries or frozen wings with your air fryer lid?
Yes you can use frozen french fries or frozen wings. Just increase the cooking time by 2 minutes.
What is the easiest way to turn foods in that little basket??
Also, should I preheat the instant pot with the fryer lid?
Instant Pot should stay unplugged.
I just made these for breakfast instead of hashbrowns and they were delicious
So happy you like it! It's one of my favorite recipes 🙂
Okay, these were so good. I just got my Instant Pot air fryer lid today. The first batch, I followed the exact recipe. The second batch, I subbed garlic powder for the paprika. Both were crispy and flavorful; Son 1 (12) and I preferred the paprika, and Son 2 (10) and my husband preferred the garlic. So, so good. Btw, I wasn't sure if I could stack them somewhat (basically to get one potato in at a time), but I figured I'd try. They were still crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Yay, thanks!
Thank you very much Mindy 🙂 Glad you all like the recipe!!
its good that you liked he recipe
Thank you for the recipe! First time I've used the Air Fryer lid for Instant Pot. Great results from your recipe. Thank you!
Glad you like it 🙂
Made these and it worked out perfectly. The only thing I’d change is not to use Canola oil, never use any type of seed oil. They are chemically processed and extremely bad for you. Cold pressed oils only. I used olive oil but avocado would work as well.
How many potatoes can I cook at once i have to 8 quart instapot duo crisp and air fryer
Any appliance store, as well as Bestbuy \ Amazon \ Walmart.
Thank you very much Terri : ) Let me know how it goes!
I just purchased the Duo Crisp and Air Fryer instant pot. Should I use the the Air Fryer option with your recipe o another function?
I'm so happy for you Angie:)
And yes, just use that air fryer option.
I guess you have the ALL-IN-ONE Instant Pot, where the air fryer is already in the lid. If so, than you are right and since it's only 1 appliance it need to be plugged in.
I have the regular Instant Pot Duo and an external lid for air-frying.
Hope it makes sense now :]
I have the Instant Pot Duo Plus and just purchased the Air Fryer lid. Do I need to plug the Instant Pot in or just the Air Fryer lid?
Plug only the Air Fryer Lid. Instant Pot needs to be unplugged.
Be sure to read the safety information which came with your lid, it covers more than just what can be plugged in.
Hi you need to put more Ninja Foodi recipes I will be watching thanks Lisa
Can I leave the skins on the potatoes?
Yes you can 🙂
Would this work without oil? Trying to work out if I should buy an instant pot …
You can use cooking spray instead. But I think making it crispy without at least some oil would be impossible.
You should absolutely buy an Instant Pot! We use it every week and save hours on cooking and clean up!
I made it. Doesn't look like the picture but really delicious!!
Glad you liked it Dave ^_^
Fries were delicious and crisp. 6 stars
Thank you!! I love using the IP air fryer for french fries 🙂
