And believe me, just like the hard boiled eggs, after you first make corn on the cob in your Instant Pot, you won't be able to make it any other way.

How many ears can I make at once?

I'm making 3-4 corns every time in my 6-quart Instant Pot.

If you have 8-quart pressure cooker, you can add some more. Anyway, since it's very quick anyway, I can make it in 2 batches in no time.

How long should I cook it?

1-4 minutes, depending how do you like your corn. The longer you cook - the softer it will be. I found that my sweet spot (pun intended) is 2 minutes.

What toppings can I add?

I like the natural taste, but there are plenty of options to diversify this dish: Feta cheese, parmesan, sweet butter, harissa, tabasco sauce and more.

How can I make it vegan?

Well... don't add the butter.

Do I have to use a trivet?

Yes. But you can use the metal one that comes with the Instant Pot, so you are set up. Feel free to use any rack or Instant Pot trivet you have.

  1. 3-4 ears at a time? Ha! I did 12 ears in a 6 quart instant pot for our Labor Day dinner last week-end. Nothing to it. My only problem, as with all Instant Pot recipes, is the inordinate amount of time it takes to heat up and start pressure cooking. Is it possible to pre-heat an instant pot?

    1. Unfortunately there's not a great way to preheat the Instant Pot since it needs to build up pressure. And the more filled the Instant Pot is, the longer it will take. So if you do smaller batches it will be a little quicker.

  2. I cook my corn husks on in the microwave 3 min per cob - then cut off the bottom 1/4 inch and squeeze the corn out of the husk from the top.

That pulls all the hairs etc off in ONE motion.

Would that also work in the Instant pot?

    1. hey Paul,
I clean my corn just like you do, tried it in the instant pot and worked perfectly

  3. YES, YES, YES.....Corn on the cob in the Instant Pot! Before, the corn results would vary and not always pleasantly! In the Instant Pot, its GOOD each and every time! Like you said, Corrie, I'll never go back to boiling it.
