This Instant Pot Turkey Breast recipe is so incredibly tender and moist! And aside from being absolutely delicious, it’s also an incredibly easy recipe to make, thanks to your pressure cooker.

The possibilities for this turkey breast are endless! With minimal seasonings and cooked to perfection, it’s a very flexible recipe and can easily be adapted to your liking.

Use it for your pot pie or serve it with a gravy. You can use your leftovers in a soup like Instant Pot Turkey Soup or this turkey vegetable soup by This Mom's Confessions.

Do I Need to Defrost the Turkey First?

Nope! This recipe is meant for cooking turkey breasts right from frozen.

However, you can see that we used a relatively small turkey breast. If you are using a full turkey breast, or especially a bone-in turkey breast, you will need to increase the cook time in order to have it be fully cooked.

Or alternatively, you always have the option of defrosting the turkey breast first. This recipe will work for turkey breast that is fresh, not frozen, as well.

Why Use Chicken Broth for Turkey?

This recipe calls for chicken broth because it’s much more commonly available than turkey broth, and they taste very similar. You wouldn’t be able to notice the difference in this recipe.

However, if you happen to have turkey broth on hand, feel free to use that instead! You can also make your own turkey stock using the Instant Pot!

You can also use water in a pinch but you might want to increase the amount of seasoning slightly to make up for the lost flavor.

Should I Save the Liquid from this Recipe?

Yes! I highly recommend saving the liquid from this recipe. What you’ll have is a fortified, extra flavorful broth, since you started out with broth and now it has added flavor from the turkey.

Use this quick homemade fortified broth in any soup recipe that calls for chicken or turkey broth.

If you’re not sure when you’ll make soup next, that’s no problem—it also freezes well!

How to serve?

As I mentioned earlier, this recipe can be used in so many different ways. You can cut it up and add it to any soup or salad for an easy weekday lunch. It’s great for meal prep!

You can also serve this Instant Pot Turkey Breast as a main course. It’s even more delicious when topped with delicious gravy!

When serving with gravy, I like to serve it alongside mashed potatoes and fresh steamed vegetables for a complete meal.

Since the turkey looks a bit plain on its own, I like to garnish it with some freshly chopped parsley or other fresh herbs for a visually appealing garnish. You could also add some additional colorful spices like paprika or chili powder if you prefer. Feel free to adapt this recipe to your liking!

  1. This was really good, but it does take 55 minutes for a frozen turkey. Hard to get seasoning to stay on frozen bird.

    1. 5 stars
If you spray the frozen Turkey with olive oil (or meat of your choice), the seasoning might stick.
🙂 I finally found the perfect recipe right here at corriecooks.com.
I have a seasoned frozen turkey breast in the Instant pot right now! Usually, I put these turkey breasts in the slow cooker but I ran out of time. So into the instant pot it went.
      I will let you know!….
We are also having as our sides-Turkey gravy, Rhodes frozen yeast rolls, parsley potatoes (crockpot), sweet potatoes lima beans and apple tarts for dessert.
      Well bye and happy cooking!!!.

    1. Ashley, I had a frozen solid 3lb turkey breast and did it 55 minutes and it was 165° on the inside. I love the seasoning and the turkey breast was amazing.

  2. This was such a great way to cook a small turkey breast that was frozen because I forgot to thaw.
