One of the classic and traditional British pie recipes for family dinners… This pie is loaded with the flavors of beef, peas, corn,carrot and tomato paste and then, topped with a crust or of mashed potatoes.

Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup onion chopped
- 1/2 cup carrot peeled and chopped
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp water
- 1/4 cup frozen peas
- 1/4 cup frozen corn
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley minced
- 1 cup water
- 1 lb potatoes peeled and cubed
- 1 cup parmesan cheese grated freshly
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
- Place the oil in the Instant Pot and select “Sauté”. Then add the onion and carrot and cook for about 3-4 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for about 1 minute.
- Add beef and cook for about 4-5 minutes or until browned.
- Select “Cancel” and remove grease from pot. Then, stir in tomato paste, broth, salt and black pepper.
- Secure the lid and turn to “Seal” position.
- Cook on “Manual” with “High Pressure” for about3 minutes.
- Press “Cancel” and do a quick release.
- Meanwhile, in a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water.
- Select “Sauté” and add the cornstarch mixture, stirring continuously.
- Cook for about 4-5 minutes and then, stir in peas, corn and parsley.
- Select “Cancel” and transfer the meat mixture into a lightly greased pie plate.
- Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Now, rinse the pot of Instant Pot.
- Arrange the trivet in the bottom of Instant Pot and pour water.
- Place potatoes on top of trivet.
- Secure the lid and turn to “Seal” position.
- Cook on “Manual” with “High Pressure” for about5 minutes.
- Press “Cancel” and do a quick release.
- Remove the lid and transfer the potatoes into a bowl.
- With potato masher, mash the potatoes completely. Add remaining ingredients and mix to combine well.
- Spread potato mixture over beef mixture in pie plate evenly.
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until top becomes golden brown.
- Serve hot.
