This article will be comparing one of the easiest to use pressure cookers to one of the more popular brands. I will be covering the Fagor brand line of electric pressure cookers and the Bella Electric Pressure Cooker.
While the Bella is priced at the lower end of the spectrum compared to Fagor, when it comes to features it still can compete.

Overview of the Fagor family of Electric Pressure Cookers
- Fagor 670040230- 6 quart
- Fagor Premium 670041930- 6 quart
- Fagor Premium 670041970 – 8 quart
- Fgor LUX 670042050 – 4 quart
- Fagor LUX 670041880 – 6 quart
- Fagor LUX 670041960 – 8 quart
- Fagor LUX 360 – 8 quart (has not been released yet)
The 6 quart Fagor is a 3-in-1 multi cooker. It can be used for pressure cooking, rice cooking, and slow cooking. It can also be used for browning.
It cooks at both high and low pressure, has an 8 hour delay timer, and an automatic keep warm function.
This pressure cooker has no preset recipes. You simply choose high pressure (9 psi) or low pressure (5 psi) and set your cook time; up to 99 minutes in one minute increments.
The Fagor Premium is a step up from the original Fagor, with the key improvement being an addition of cooking options and presets.
While the original Fagor only had three cooking options, the Fagor Premium can also steam and simmer. It also has presets for white rice, brown rice, risotto, beans, and meat.
The Fagor Premium includes a time delay function up to 6 hours, and has an automatic keep warm function.
The Fagor Premium is pretty much a dedicated pressure cooker, trading the added pressure cooking settings for the slow cook function.
Out of all of Fagor’s electric pressure cookers that are currently on the market, the Fagor LUX is the most recent.
The Fagor LUX comes in three different sizes, 4 quart, 6 quart and 8 quart. Unlike the other Fagor models, these ones come in multiple colors. The 4 quart model comes in either champagne or silver, and the 6 quart and 8 quart models come in champagne, silver or copper.
The Fagor LUX essentially incorporates the functions of the original Fagor and the Fagor Premium, into one product.
It has both pressure cooking, slow cooking, rice cooking, simmer, steam, and sauté. It comes with presets for white rice, brown rice, and risotto. The Fagor LUX also adds the functionality of yogurt making.
It has an automatic keep warm function up to 12 hours and a time delay function up to 6 hours.

Overview of the Bella Electric Pressure Cooker
When it comes to functions, the Bella electric pressure cooker is more closely related to the original Fagor pressure cooker, in that it is both a pressure cooker and a slow cooker.
However, it does have presets unlike the Fagor. The Bella has presets for soup, stew, neat, chicken, rice, and risotto. It also has a setting for steam, brown and sauté.
The Bella electric pressure cooker, only cooks at high pressure with the pressure being anywhere between 7.97 and 9.42 psi.
The Bella electric pressure cooker, is somewhat limited when it comes to freedom in programming, but what it lacks in flexibility, it makes up with simplicity.
With the pressure cooking setting you are unable to change the pressure or temperature, you only select the time. With the preset functions, nothing can be changed. You simply press the button and everything else is taken care of.
The ability to change the settings for the slow cook function is just as limited. You can’t choose a specific temperature to cook at, you can only choose high or low temperature and select time.
The temperature range for the slow cook is also somewhat limited and overlapping. The low temperature cooks between 179°F to 203°F and high temperature cooks between 194° F and 210° F.
Why Choose a Fagor Electric Pressure Cooker over a Bella Electric Pressure Cooker?
- The Fagor LUX model can make yogurt and the Bella electric pressure cooker cannot.
- The Fagor LUX comes in a variety of color options, and the Bella only comes in stainless steel.
- The Fagor pressure cookers can cook at both high pressure and low pressure, while the Bella pressure cookers only cook at high pressure.
- The Fagor Premium and Fagor LUX have more flexibility in manually programming and adjusting presets.
Why Choose the Bella Electric Pressure Cooker over a Fagor Electric Pressure Cooker?
- Bella electric pressure cookers have one touch functionality allowing for easy use.
- Bella electric pressure cookers are considerably less expensive than the Fagor Pressure cookers, despite having more features.
Which of these pressure cookers is best for you?
If you were making this decision solely based on features, than hands down the Fagor LUX is the best choice. Not only does it do both pressure cooking and slow cooking, it also has all of the presets available with all of the other pressure cookers discussed.
One feature that makes it stand out from all other pressure cookers in this article is the yogurt making function. So if being able to make yogurt is a deal breaker for you, then you would definitely want to go with the Fagor LUX.
Other than the Fagor LUX, the Bella Electric Pressure Cooker pretty much out does all of the other Fagor models when it comes to features. It has both slow and pressure cooking ability and comes with the easy one touch presets.
If you are not concerned with not being able to adjust presets or use low pressure cooking, then the Bella is a great choice at an extremely reasonable price.
However, if you do go with the Bella pressure cooker, you may run into a few issues. Customers frequently report issues with the lid not closing properly and nonstick coating of the cook pot peeling easily.
As I mentioned earlier the Fagor LUX model is the only pressure cooker discussed in this article that can make yogurt. If you like this feature and want more options, you can find a review of other electric pressure cookers that make yogurt here.
