Trying to make a purchase can be difficult, most of us don’t want to waste our money. Especially when it comes to kitchenware. It can be hard to find information that really clears the air on what a product can do.
Articles like these are always interesting because you tend to find products or things about products you might not have known otherwise.
Today we will be comparing to Fagor Stovetop Pressure Cookers. The Fagor Duo and the Fagor Innova. I know I’m not alone in saying these two cookers look and seem to function almost exactly the same, many amazon reviewers say the same.This can make trying to choose between them if you are choosing Fagor, a difficult decision on what to buy.
Hopefully, this article will help you to make a more informed purchase in the future so that you don’t regret your choice later.
I think personally that these two cookers are a very good comparison because they are both similar in a lot of ways but provide enough differences to make the comparison interesting.
With all that being said, let’s take a look at the main differences that you will likely notice between them.
How Are The Duo And The Innova Different?
These two Fagor cookers have more in common than they do different, but the differences are notable. Let’s take a look at them;
- The Innova only comes in 3 sizes while the Duo comes in 4.
- The Innova has an exclusive 3-lock safety valve that monitors the pressure.
- The Fagor Duo cookers are somewhat varied from size to size. More on this later.
These are the differences between these cookers that you really need to know.
They are not too different from the looks of that list, but as I go into detail on each, you will see just what I mean when I say they are significant.
Now that we have covered the basics let’s take a look at these cookers individually cooker and learn about them, starting with the Duo.
The Fagor Duo
The Fagor Duo pressure cooker is one of the most widely used stovetop pressure cookers. It is a versatile cooker and provides some neat functionality that you won’t get out of a standard pressure cooker.
This cooker has many options on it such as multiple pressure settings and variable sizes. Not to mention the safety mechanism on the lid to keep it locked in place. This is nice because it keeps the lid from accidentally popping off while the cooker is pressurized.
The Low-pressure settings are 8psi while the high pressure is 15psi.
Another thing to note about the Duo cooker is its reliability. This cooker has a ten-year warranty and was voted best buy for stovetop cookers in some of the leading culinary magazines and shows.
This cooker will help with cost effectiveness. They last a very long lasting lifespan and as long as you don’t leave it on the burner they won’t be ruined.
The different sizes;
- 8-quart;family size.
- 10-quart; pressure canning available.
Back to what I mentioned earlier; The Duo has 4 sizes. The 4-quart and the 6-quart are, mostly, made from the same material as the other two cookers. 18/10 stainless steel, the differences is that the 4 and 6-quart have an extra outer aluminum ‘sandwiched’ coating. This helps ensure that these smaller cookers are able to spread out the heat more evenly without burning the food or the pot.
As you can see, this cooker is quite useful and is a nice addition to any household. For most families, the 8-quart model will be a perfect balance. It is large enough to feed a whole family and is still small enough to allow for easy cleaning and storage.
So with all that being said, let’s look at what the Innova has to offer.
The Fagor Innova
It is usable on all cooking surfaces; induction, gas, electric, and ceramic. It is made from the same 18/10 stainless steel material. This cooker also has a pressure valve with two settings like the Duo.
The true difference is in its mechanisms.
But it also has a triple-safety mechanism on the handle that prevents the cooker from opening while the cooker is still pressurized. This is nice because you don’t have to worry about it popping and causing any harm because somebody accidentally knocked it.
Another nice thing is cooker has a 10-year warranty. The company is essentially guaranteeing that their product won’t malfunction on you for ten years. That’s a decently long time compared to most 1 to 4-year warranties.
Overall, the only true difference between these two cookers is the safety locking.
So which cooker should you choose?
If You Choose Fagor, Should You Choose The Duo Or The Innova?
Really overall, these cookers are almost entirely the same. The have many of the same functionality and are mostly made from the same material and in the same fashion.
The only significant difference is that the Fagor Duo’s 6-quart model has the aluminum coating and that the locking mechanism on the Innova is much smoother and works better than on the Fagor Duo.
So overall, you can’t go wrong either way. Now, I will note that the Duo models are significantly cheaper than the Innova models. So the Duo is definitely a cheaper alternative to the Innova. Other than that, it just depends on the size you want.
