Fagor Duo Vs Fissler Vitaquick Pressure Cookers: Are They Different?

Fagor Duo Vs Fissler Vitaquick Pressure Cookers

Nowadays, there are so many names and so many stovetop pressure cookers out there, it can be hard to choose between them because they all seem so similar. It can be hard to find something that will last a long time and won’t make you feel like you wasted money in a few months time.

A lot of the time when we think of Pressure Cookers, we tend to think of names like Fagor. Fagor is well known for its reliable, high-quality cookers. Today I’ll be comparing their cooker, the Fagor Duo Pressure Cooker to the less known Fissler Vitaquick Pressure Cooker.

Hopefully, this article will help you learn a bit more about these cookers so that you can make a more informed purchase in the future if you decide to buy one. This article will go highly in-depth into each cooker and explain the major differences between the two.

With all that being said, let’s take a look at the cooker first on the list, the Fagor Duo.

The Fagor Duo: A Great Cooker For Any Meal

Fagor Duo Stovetop Pressure CookerThis Fagor cooker is one of the most widely used stovetop pressure cookers. It is a versatile cooker and provides some neat functionality that you won’t get out of a standard pressure cooker.

This cooker has many options on it such as multiple pressure settings and variable sizes. Not to mention the safety mechanism on the lid to keep it locked in place. This is nice because it keeps the lid from accidentally popping off while the cooker is pressurized.

The Low-pressure settings are 8psi while the high pressure is 15psi.

Another thing to note about the Duo cooker is its reliability. This cooker has a ten-year warranty and was voted best buy for stovetop cookers in some of the leading culinary magazines and shows.

This cooker will help with cost effectiveness. They last a very long lasting lifespan and as long as you don’t leave it on the burner they won’t be ruined.

The different sizes;

  • 4-quart
  • 6-quart
  • 8-quart;family size.
  • 10-quart; pressure canning available.

As you can see, this cooker is quite useful and is a nice addition to any household. For most families, the 8-quart model will be a perfect balance. It is large enough to feed a whole family and is still small enough to allow for easy cleaning and storage.

The Fissler Vitaquick Pressure Cooker

Fissler Vitaquick 8 quartThe Fissler Vitaquick cooker is a fantastic pressure cooker and provides an immense amount of functionality and safety. However, this cooker is considered overpriced by many.

This cooker comes in 3 different sizes;

  • 4.5 quart
  • 6 quart
  • 8 quart

The reason I say it is overpriced is that the cheapest cooker, the 4.5-quart is twice the price of the Fagor Duo! The price tag definitely sets many consumers off just by looking at it. That’s not to say that it isn’t worth that much. But I personally think if I was going to spend that much on a cooker I would need a lot more than a fancy stovetop cooker.

let me go over some of the features this cooker has;

  • An automatic locking lid that stays in place while the cooker is pressurized.
  • 18/10 stainless steel material with a mirror shine finish.
  • The handle makes an audible sound that triggers a color coded indicator when properly locked, so you can be certain it is properly closed.
  • An automatic pressure valve that engages once the handle is sealed.
  • Markings for minimum and maximum liquid points inside the pot to prevent under or overfilling.

it is quite advanced for a stovetop pressure cooker.

but it does have an issue; The Stainless steel means that this cooker is extremely heavy. Even more so when it is filled, but this is also a good thing in that you know the pot is not flimsy.

Aside from that there really is nothing wrong with this cooker. Though for me, for the price I would rather buy an electric pressure cooker as it saves electricity and, at this price tag, they usually have a lot more functionality.

Overall, this cooker is fantastic. It isn’t the cheapest, but it definitely isn’t the most expensive one out there. But I’m not sure on my part if it’s splurge-worthy.

How Are The Duo and the Vitaquick Different?

Obviously, the price makes these two cookers extremely different. The most expensive model of the Fagor duo is half that of Fissler, and that’s the 10-quart model.

Aside from that;

  1. The Fagor has a few more size options than the Fissler cooker.
  2. The Fagor lacks the polished finish or the measurements in the pot.
  3. The Fagor also lacks the safety mechanisms the Fissler cooker has.
  4. The Fissler does not have the variable PSI settings.
  5. The Fisslers cannot pressure can foods.

For the most part, that is the only true notable difference in these cookers. The Fagor is a much more known brand, so it is more reliable in that sense. Not to mention, for most families, the Fissler is just at a bit of an unrealistic price point.

That all being said, which one should you choose?

Fagor Duo Or Fissler Vitaquick?

Overall, both of these cookers do a fantastic job and have a ton of things that make them worth buying.

The Fagor cooker will be perfect for most families because of its affordability and convenience. It is a brand name and its products can be trusted to be sturdy and long-lasting.

The Fissler Vitaquick is definitely a fancy cooker to be sure. Although, it is considerably high priced I would say that if you have the money for it, try it out. However, for most families, if you are looking to spend that much money on a cooker, consider taking a look at the electric pressure cookers we have covered here on our site.

So while both cookers are great, the Fagor for most people will be the better option because of the affordability and brand name trust it offers.
