Cloud Eggs

Breakfast feels more playful when eggs arrive looking like little clouds. Whipped egg whites bake into soft mounds with crisp edges, while the yolks settle into the centers and stay rich. A little Parmesan, chives, salt, and pepper add flavor without hiding the taste of the eggs. The method looks impressive, yet it uses basic ingredients and takes only a few minutes.

Serve them over toast, beside avocado, or with bacon for a fuller plate. They also work well for brunch, low-carb meals, or mornings when ordinary fried eggs feel too predictable. Each serving brings texture, color, and a fun twist.

Why This Recipe Works

This recipe works because whipping the egg whites adds air, making them light, fluffy, and cloud-like. Parmesan gives the whites more flavor, while salt, pepper, and chives keep the eggs from tasting plain. Baking the whites first helps them hold their shape before the yolks are added.

It is also quick and fun to make. The recipe uses basic ingredients, but the final dish looks impressive on a plate. You can serve cloud eggs for breakfast, brunch, or a light meal, and they pair well with toast, vegetables, bacon, avocado, or salad.

Ingredients

Eggs: Eggs are the main ingredient. The whites become fluffy, and the yolks stay soft in the center.

Parmesan Cheese: Parmesan adds salty flavor and helps the egg whites taste richer.
Substitute: Use cheddar, mozzarella, feta, or leave it out.

Salt: Salt brings out the flavor of the eggs and cheese.
Substitute: Use seasoned salt if you want more flavor.

Black Pepper: Black pepper adds a mild sharp taste and makes the eggs less plain.
Substitute: Use white pepper or a pinch of paprika.

Chives: Chives add fresh flavor and a little color on top.
Substitute: Use green onions, parsley, dill, or cilantro.

Tips

  • Separate the eggs carefully so no yolk gets into the whites.
  • Use a clean, dry bowl so the egg whites whip properly.
  • Do not overbake, or the yolks may become firm.
  • Make a small well in each egg white cloud before adding the yolk.
  • Serve right away because cloud eggs taste best fresh from the oven.

How to Serve

Cloud eggs are best served warm right after baking. They work well for breakfast, brunch, or a light meal and can be served with toast, vegetables, or breakfast sides.

  • Serve on toast with avocado, butter, or cream cheese.
  • Pair with bacon, turkey bacon, or breakfast sausage for a filling plate.
  • Serve with a side salad or roasted vegetables for a lighter meal.
