Celebrities are just like us. They have their good days and their bad days. Sometimes they make mistakes, but unlike us, millions worldwide can see them. Getting caught up in the drama and scandals surrounding our favorite stars is easy.

However, it's important to remember that they're human too. According to fans in an online pop-culture forum, these big celebrities didn't deserve all the hate people gave them.

1. Monica Lewinsky

Monica Lewinsky was a young intern at the White House when she became involved in an affair with President Bill Clinton. The ensuing scandal was a media frenzy, and Monica became the target of public ridicule and shaming.

In the aftermath, Monica's life was turned upside down, and she struggled with depression and harassment. She was in her early twenties, and everyone came down on her, but Clinton didn't get more than a slap on the wrist. Monica has become a strong advocate for anti-bullying and digital ethics.

2. Macaulay Culkin

Macaulay's iconic blond hair and blue eyes from the Home Alone movies will forever sit dearly in our hearts. But as Culkin got older, his personal life became the subject of intense media scrutiny, with rumors of substance use and strange behavior swirling around him. He was just a kid then, and being shot into stardom is no easy feat.

The Home Alone star also had a strained relationship with his father/manager, who reportedly mismanaged finances and eventually broke things off with him.

3. Britney Spears

In 2008, Britney was put in a conservatorship after a public mental health breakdown. Her father, Jamie Spears, was meant to oversee her estate and finances.

There were reports of her father controlling her life and using her finances to fund his lifestyle. All the negatives put Britney in a tight spot, and we still haven't apologized enough for all the bad press she went through.

4. Lindsay Lohan

From one of the most promising young actors of the 2000s to multiple DUIs, arrests, substance possession, and a whole string of legal problems, Lindsay's reputation suffered and soon tanked. The media portrayed her as a reckless and out-of-control woman with no signs of slowing down.

Despite these challenges, Lohan has continued to work in the entertainment industry, demonstrating her resilience and dedication to her craft.

5. Shia LaBeouf

Shia has been open about his struggles with mental health for quite a while. The Transformers star has had a career marred by arrests and DUIs.

While there are no excuses for the things he's done, Shia has been passionate about getting better. If his 2020 movie, Tax Collector, is anything to go by, he's on the right path.

6. John Boyega

Racism exists in Hollywood, no doubt. So when the Star Wars actor used his platform to deliver a tear-jerking speech after George Floyd's death, folks saw him as a prominent advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement.

However, Star Wars fans have come at him for his outspokenness, leading to a mixed reception among specific segments of the fandom.

7. Millie Vanilli

Milli Vanilli was a pop music duo comprising Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus. In the late 1980s, they became international stars with their catchy dance-pop hits, but their success was short-lived. In 1990, it was revealed that the duo had not sung on their records, and other singers had provided the vocals.

This revelation led to a scandal that effectively ended their career. They were stripped of their Grammy Award for Best New Artist. They don't deserve the hate; everyone lip-syncs these days, anyway.

8. Bill Burr

They've canceled, pushed back, and criticized him for his work, yet Bill Burr still manages to be a staple in the world of comedy and entertainment.

They always frowned upon his content because of his unfiltered opinions and willingness to tackle sensitive topics like race, gender, and politics. Many argue his content is insensitive, but others still think he's the man.

9. Dixie Chicks

The group faced backlash in 2003 after Maines made comments critical of then-President George W. Bush during a concert in London. This led to a boycott of their music, and the group faced a significant backlash from fans and critics alike.

America is the land of the free, and since then, the Dixies have continued to tour and spread love, regardless of the hate people gave them. But it took a minute.

10. Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick has become synonymous with taking a knee. In 2016, he rose to notoriety for kneeling during the national anthem as a peaceful protest against racial injustice and police brutality.

Football fans and politicians alike accused him of being unpatriotic and disrespectful to the American flag, some even asking him to be taken off the team. Standing up, for one thing, doesn't mean hating another, and Colin understood that.

11. Brendan Fraser

It's unclear why people stopped liking Brendan. Some say it was his acting; others make fun of his physical appearance; on how he gained weight over the years.

However, many fans have come to Fraser's defense, praising his talent and the joy he brought to audiences through his performances. His Oscar-winning performance in The Whale reaffirms just how good an actor and a person Brendan is.

12. Greta Thunberg

It is unfortunate that people hate Greta, given that she dedicates her whole life to saving the planet for the benefit of everyone. The hate she receives as a young girl is truly disappointing and speaks to a more significant problem of society failing to take the climate crisis seriously.

These celebrities have faced criticism and public backlash but have also shown resilience, strength, and dedication to their work. Do you agree with this list?
