Recipe Ingredients

Whole Milk - Using whole milk helps with the creaminess because of the extra added fat. This helps to create a creamy texture and also gives that yogurt that thickness that you'll love. (If you want to use other milk, you can - but just know that it will vary up the texture a bit)

Plain Yogurt - Pick your favorite type of yogurt from the store and use it. You can use flavored yogurt or not - totally up to you. A lot of people will use an unflavored option as it then gives options to sweeten as you wish.

How to Make Greek Yogurt

Gather all the necessary ingredients first. Since there are only two simple ingredients needed for this yogurt recipe, it's a breeze to do!

Step One: Pour 1 ½ cups of milk into the Instant Pot.

Step Two: Put on the lid and lock it into place. Select the "yogurt" button and set the timer for 8 minutes.

Once the time has passed, use the natural steam vent, then take off the lid.

Step Three: Add ½ cup of yogurt to the milk.

Step Four: Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon and then put back on the lid. Select the yogurt button again and set the timer for 8 minutes.

Once the time has passed, give it a natural steam vent.

That's it - the yogurt is done and ready to enjoy!

Variations

Use varied types of milk - Whole fat milk is best, but you can make this using 1% or 2% milk.

Change the flavor of yogurt - Plain yogurt may be what I always use, but you can also use flavored yogurt.

Helpful Tips

  • Be sure you're using a wooden spoon to stir the inside of the Instant Pot. If not, you'll risk scratching the instant pot.
  • Skim milk isn't going to be a good option for this instant pot yogurt because it doesn't have enough fat content in it.

How To Serve

You can serve yogurt in so many ways! Chopped nuts and fresh fruit or two of the most popular options, but don't forget that adding granola makes the perfect crunch, too!

Shredded coconut is also a great topping, as are mini chocolate chips. The great thing about eating yogurt is that it can be sweet - or not!

For the kids, a side dish of yogurt with apple slices makes a nice snack recipe as well. They might even want to use it as a fruit dip!

  1. Have you tried this with coconut milk, the full fat kind that comes canned? It's my understanding that it should work.

  2. Hi. I have a non big name electric pressure cooker that doesn't have a yoghurt setting. Is it still possible to make yogurt in it and if so how?
    Thank you
